Yes. We are looking for leaders working in Climate Adaptation ─ works that help communities reduce risks and strengthen resilience to the impact of the climate crisis.
Specific focus area include:
① Food / Agriculture ─ Farming systems transformation, Food security, Climate-resilient crop and livestock practices, Marine & fisheries
② Water Management / Disaster Risk Reduction ─ Community-based resilience solutions for floods, droughts, or extreme weather; Early warning systems
③ Ecosystem / Biodiversity — Ecosystem restoration, Nature-based solutions, Ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction
④ Climate-Resilient Settlements & Infrastructure — Climate-resilient housing, Energy access for climate-vulnerable communities, Resilient urban systems and infrastructure
⑤ Others — Innovative approaches to climate adaptation not captured in the categories above. This includes community-based systems that address climate-intensified health crises (e.g., healthcare infrastructure and waste management in the context of climate-related infectious diseases, extreme heat, or flooding), circular economy models directly linked to climate adaptation, and other approaches that strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable communities
This focus reflects the growing recognition that climate adaptation continues to receive a disproportionately small share of global climate finance, despite the urgent needs of communities already experiencing climate impacts. We believe that supporting locally driven solutions in this area can make a meaningful difference.
No. The applicant's nationality must match the country where their organization operates.
Eligible countries are limited to Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
No. That is not required.
Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can be selected as Asia Beautiful Fellow.
There are no restrictions on the legal form of the organization.
No, groups or teams are not eligible to apply.
The program is specifically designed to support individual social innovation leaders, particularly founders of organizations.
The program focuses on empowering individuals who can drive meaningful change and propose innovative, sustainable solutions to climate challenges.
By selecting founders and current representatives, the program ensures that participants have the authority to lead their organizations toward impactful goals.
While one person alone may not solve large-scale problems, a dedicated leader with a strong commitment to solving social issues can act as a catalyst for meaningful change.
We define a “founder” as someone who has established or is in the process of establishing an organization based on their original idea and leads the organization with major decision-making authority.
A founder’s vision is embedded in the foundation of the organization and influences all aspects of its activities.
We believe that a founder with decision-making power is better positioned to lead the entire organization toward its intended impact.
Therefore, to be eligible, you must have been in a leadership role since the organization’s founding and must currently hold decision-making authority within the organization.
No, one-person businesses are not eligible to apply for the Asia Beautiful Fellow program.
To qualify, your organization must have at least one full-time employee in addition to yourself.
This requirement ensures that the organization has a collaborative structure that can effectively implement innovative solutions and drive social change.
Yes, you must be working full-time in your organization and fully dedicated to it.
Yes. To be eligible, your organization must have been operating for at least one year.
Also, your organization must have moved beyond the idea stage and be verified through more than one year of business operations.
We focus on supporting individuals who drive systemic change to address local climate challenges.
No, you cannot submit an application without providing documentation of your organization's operational history.
However, if you are unable to provide official documents, you can submit alternative verifiable materials from reliable sources that demonstrate your organization has been pursuing its social mission for at least one year.
